heres the way to getting yourselves a table top crown capper for £20.86

just buy a

Silverline 633764 Drill Stand 500mm High £13.56 from your local silverline supplier

then get a 26mm and 29mm Crown Cap Crimping Cup 26mm Cup for £4.50 from copper kettle delivered £ 7.30

get a long bolt i used a stainless alan key bolt with the head dremmeled so as not to foul the cap very easy to do.

2 pieces of 2x2 drilled then the nut and bolt clamps it all together

I put a cut out circle of rubber from an inner sole just to give some cushioning to the bottles.

I have capped over 800 caps with it perfect every time no fuss does not break.
easy to use.

So Beefed it up welded inch square tubing to original short,and hard work handle.
upgraded the base to marble with carpet underlay [posh bits]

really easy to use now
all it needs is a rubber bung in't end of handle
and a horse shoe welded to the base so as to guide the bottles in line with out eying up

used it tonight 'by' eck' what an upgrade
the original short handled no base version was quite tough to use this is ultra easy
with the marble base this is a piece of cake to use doesn't move around

Brilliant idea! I've got a drill stand in the garage I was given. Never used it, its one of those large tools that is in the way wherever i am storing it and keep moving it around the garage. I think i've found a use for it!! I've also got some worktop offcuts i could mount it on. Ooooh ideas flowing now!!

Freecycle comes through for me again.
This time it got me this lovely black and decker drill stand.
It works a treat now i just need the bell to arrive and then fit it.
Do you think i could just use a bolt and bolt the bell straight onto the hole in the u shaped bit at the front.
or do i need to bolt a piece of wood to the holes and then bolt the bell to the wood.

i reccon you cannot over engineer these the stronger the better
all you need is the bell to be central of your bottle and a direct straight path involved when bottling
