Thinking of brewing Belgian Dubbel but never made before.

Wondering if I can get away with Lager Malt instead of Belgium Pilsner?

Receipe I've been playing around with is:

5kg Lager Malt (or Belgium Pilsner)
0.250 CaraMunich
0.250 Belgium Biscuit
0250 Special B
0.600 Candi Sugar

Any advise greatly appreciated.

Matt

I think for a dubbel or a dark strong, you probably could because you don't have to lean so heavily on the base malt like you would with a tripel. For my doubles, I actually include a little bit of chocolate and roast to increase the complexity as well. Is the Candi sugar dark?

Thanks Phett. I’m in virgin territory here so if the style called for Dark Candi, then that’s what I’ll include.
