The kids and I get loads of Crickets which we use for fishing bait.
I love these little creatures, don't know what we look like to them but their eyes follow every move.
This one was on our water tank.

I once watched a mantis fly into a spiders web. The spider was unsure what to do, eventually it got the courage up to go in and bind up the mantis. As the spider got close enough the mantis picked it up and flew off!
Wish it had been the spider which bit me yesterday, was moving compost around, saw a Red Back did the right thing gently picked it up on the end of the shovel and moved it out the way. Later that night had a searing pain just above my knee (should have worn long pants and bicycle clips) hardly slept a wink last night. Luckily I don't have a reaction apart from the pain. And boy was it painful.

There's an app, i don't know what it's called that someone was telling me about at work the other day. You go for a drive and at the end of your drive you count how many dead insects are on your number plate (same for everyone then), input where you've been etc and they can work out the local insect population. Apparently quite interesting but I haven't got around to looking at it. I do however get a fair few in my eye when cycling.

Project splatter does roadkill/ insect "collection" counts. Its Web based rather than an app so don't know if that's what your thinking of

Resorted to the Chinese way of pollinating this year - a soft brush. The garden is close to being insect sterile this year - I normally get a bite or two which I react badly too, nothing this year at all - what are we doing to our planet?

Quite possibly, sure they said app, but they/I could well be wrong.

Ouch Foxy, not good, worst bite I have had was a Bull ant that was bad enough.
Lost a dog to a tic, and a few to snakes on the farm.
