Well, basically, I left a small amount of finished beer in the FV since I had a shortage of bottles. That has since turned to vinegar and went down the sink. My question is, the FV still stinks, is it safe to use it again? I'm giving it a wash over with sanitiser as we speak and it seems to have rid the FV of the smell, but I'm worried there's going to be something nasty. Is there any way to make sure it's safe?

As long as you giver a really thorough clean i would think it will be ok as long as theres no scratches inside for the nasties to harbour

I had 10 gallons of vinegar and I have had 3 successful brews since. Just give a good clean and sanitize well.

I just found something saying that temperatures of 140f will kill acetobacter, I'm going to give the FV a thorough rinsing with boiling water and then sanitise again before brewing. Cheers!
