Gonna just make a amber-brown ale.

Got
4.2kg pale malt
100 crystal
100 roast barley
100 torrified wheat

Got use of
goldings challenger, fuggles, hallertua, saaz or williamette.

Was going for maximum head retention, easy drinking mild hop flavour.4-5%

Need some ideas for hop amounts and type/s

Any ideas folks?? Gonna use all the grain, prob going for 25l in the FV.

Will fall back on fuggles+Goldings or challenger.

Same here, just drop the torrified, or replace with wheat malt. Avoids it tasting like breakfast cereal!

For the hops, I would maybe go for the following to get 25IBU.

14g Challenger @ 90 mins or FWH
9g Fuggles @ 60 mins
23g Goldings @ 15 mins.

Don't forget your irish moss/protofloc. For 23L that should be around 1.040, so 25L should work out at around 1.037, or around 3.6% if it drops to 1.009.

Cheers, will use that hop scedule.

Going to use the torrified wheat as I've got it just to see what it tastes like, quite keen on wheaty tasting weisens like shofferhoffer so I don't think I'd mind the taste.

Was gonna sparge about 28 ltrs, so I'm hoping that will bring me to about 23-24l post boil. normally have a mash eff of about 75%

Used 30 chally, 10 fuggle, 20 goldings. Got 28 ltrs which boiled down to 21. Topped it back to 24 litres at 1.046. Brew eff of 77% the sparge took me about 70mins though. Nice dark beer, like nookie broon! More bitter than I was aiming but is lovely!
