Hi all,

Just purchased a beer font and would like to use the 12v light on it (the standard black+ red wires) Just having a glance online and all transformers are quite expensive so have been looking for alternatives.

I have a giant box of wires and came across this adapter. Is this the right type of adapter to power a font

https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07RHM5KCW/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_dsO5EbVCQE2BY
If not, is there a cheaper alternative than buying an expensive transformer from eBay?

Thanks

I may have misunderstood the question, but what you've linked is just a connector, it's not a voltage transformer. This might be more what you're after: LightingWill 12V 1A LED Power Supply 12W Power Adapter 100-240V AC to 12V DC 1Amp 12Watt Wall Plug LED Transformer for 12V 3528/5050 LED Strip Light CCTV Camera:Amazon.co.uk:Musical Instruments

I already have a power adapter. See attached (not sure if approximate however) then was going to simply buy one of the connectors.

But the item you linked seems great. So that will do the same job as this below? (but obviously only powering a single font)

thanks

That eBay link isn't suitable, it's 24v and 2.5A which is overkill. Also the picture you've posted looks like it's a 5v output rather than a 12v?

Sorry didn’t realise the eBay link was a 24v, I have a few power cables, I do have one with a 12v output. Just slightly concerned that all “pub transformers” are £40+ and that this is so cheap, think this just because people are too lazy to shop around?

I don’t actually have the beer font yet but just generally speaking would you expect it to require AC or DC power?
Thanks

If it's just to power a light then a cheap transformer is more than enough. It'll be 12v dc, and very low power so 0.5a output is again plenty.

Edit: from a quick Google it seems that most pub transformers are 24v, are you sure your font is 12v?
