Gooday fellow brewheads
When can I use beer finings? Do I use it when I tranfer to my pressure vessel, or during conditioning if it remains cloudy.
People have told me not to use it but let it clear naturately which I can understand but to me you also drink with your eyes so I would like it clear.
I dont want to use it but when would you suggest I use it.
Cheers

it'll clear naturally on its own, usually takes about 2 weeks in my experience. finings are a lot faster, and particularly suited to stuff that you want really crystal clear - wine, cider, lager, etc.

it won't be cloudy once it clears on its own, it'll be nice and clear.

you use it directly after fermentation.

I use Kwik Clear finings when I transfer the beer into my cornies. This is immediately after fermentation has finished.
I tend to find that the beer has dropped clear in a couple of days.
However, as a cornie picks up the beer from the bottom of the keg the first .5 pint is cloudy as it draws up the lees.
After that it runs clear.

How do you use the finings?

Do you rack off to a second FV and mix them in
Then leave for a couple of days to clear and rack again to the cornie?

If you must use them, use them after fermentation has finished so the sediment can fall to the bottom before you rack for bottling or kegging

yeah there's a lot to be said for the visual aspect of a cloudy pint, even with chill haze. shame to ruin a great pint for something so simple as having the patience to clear it out properly. i'm all for finings, they're just not essential if you have patience!

Thanks for info. I hope I can still brew without finings the wherry I'm drinking at the moment is excellent left to its natural conditioning.
Cheers
