Hi, been out for a while and wanna get back in to it, any suggestions for a nice easy brew

Try the GH Patersbier recipe and reuse the yeast for other Belgians would be my suggestion.

What beer do you like drinking? Go for a style that you enjoy. I tried the Greg Hughes Patersbier and found it a bit lacking in taste/interest however @Slid clearly enjoys it. SMASH beers are the simplest beers to make and avoiding whirlpooling and dry-hopping initially, as @LeeH suggests, makes sense. You could do worse than looking through The Malt Millet’s (or others) all-grain kits and going with something that tickles your taste- buds. Good luck and let us know how it goes.

Yes, indeed, I do make Patersbier frequently. Usually I will brew four further Belgian Style beers re-using the trub yeast from the Patersbier. I would agree that the Belgian Pale, Dubbel, Abbey, Bruin and Trippel are all a great deal more "interesting" than the somewhat elemental Patersbier, but do find it drinkable, light and refreshing. These are often cited as reasons to drink Lagers.
