Hi folks,
I'll be bottling approximately 20 litres next week and will also be batch priming them as per Dunfie's "how to" guide (linky).
Now, I also want to add some gelatine to clear the beer a little so I was wondering if I could do the both together in the following steps:

- Dissolve sugar and 1 sheet of leaf gelatine in ½ pint of water.
- Syphon beer from FV into a second FV with a little bottler.
- Add sugar/water/gelatine solution
- Leave for 6-12 hours to settle and clear
- Bottle

My main concern is will the yeast use up the priming sugar before the gelatine gets a chance to do its thing?

Do it seperately Fine with gelatine then drop into a fv for bottling with the sugar solution on the bottom so it mixes as you drop it. Then bottle. That way you will have no risk of the yeast starting up again as it may keep sediment in suspension if there is co2 being produced.

Is there not a risk of introducing excess oxygen to the beer if I have to mix in the gelatine and the sugar in two different batches?

Not really, you mix the gelatine into the fermenter very gently.

Then after 24 hours when you drop to the bottling bucket add the sugar solution first, then add the beer on top, this will mix it in without the need for stirring.

Thanks, I'll give that a try. I'm just a little cautious as I think it was stirring my last batch that ruined it.
