Im going to be brewing a beer that in the Recipe says I need Barley Syrup :? I cant find it for sale in my local brew Shops website, so im not sure if I can still get hold of it? does anyone know if you can?? :hmm:
If not I have looked on the web and found Malt Barley Syrup it was not on a brewing website but I believe I can buy this from a local Supermarket, would this work the same? :hmm:
Or :wha: does anyone know of an alternative

Thanks
Steve

As I understand it Barley Syrup is malt extract made by chemical processing rather than the method used for the usual malt extract syrup we see . I believe that the Malt Extract on sale in Holland & Barret is in fact barley syrup so that would be a direct substitute , if I am right .

shocks

PS just looked at my shelves of old stuff and Ritchies used to do barley syrup 10 or so years ago , if thats any help

I have a tin in my loft if it's of any use . . . . . Must have bought it 10 years ago

I just replace barley syrup with an equivalent amount of malt nowadays

Thanks for your replies

I will give it ago using malt Extract, see how we go with that :hmm:
