Hi all

About to treat myself to a malt mill. I'm after a roller type and have looked at a few.

Currently the only ones i have found are in the USA, they are the Bare Bones mill, monster malt mill, and the Barley crusher.

Can any one recommend any others? And does any one know where to get them in Europe, the shipping from the usa is a bit pricy.

Thanks

The people on the German forum love this guy's stuff. I couldn't tell you much about them since I just use a corona mill, but they come highly recommended and I'm sure the shipping would be affordable.

I think that you can buy them here:

Seriously though as I was saying in another thread, I'm happy with my corona mill for now and I would suggest dumping money into a fermentation fridge before I would buy anything better than that. I bet you can find them on ebay.fr .

Here is a search for mills on the German ebay:

The shipping from germany might be cheaper than the shipping from the UK.

Thanks or the info!

I had a look on the site (my German is very rusty!) and found the Barley crusher much cheeper than getting it sent from the USA, however it doesn't appear to have an international shipping option, just Germany and Austria.

Was going to reiterate the above. I can almost guarantee they'll reply in perfect English.

I don't know... those ones that Vossy linked to were pretty affordable. Those prices were listed in dollars, so it's going to be even less when converting to euros.

It's worth emailing the German webpage in English. I bet they will be able to understand what you are asking. I am a little worried now that they might not ship to France.

Granted, most Europeans speak English and hopefully they'll reply in English. Still its good manners to try, especially since I'm asking them to do something.

Ich hoffe, ich bekomme es nah genug.

Vossy's link is my next choice, but shipping fom he US is pricy.

"Ich moechte eine Ihrer MattMuehlen kaufen. Ist ein Versand nach Frankreich moeglich und wie viel wuerde das kosten?"

They replied and they can ship to France!

Sadly they're out stock and wont have it in for 4 weeks.

Im going to go with either the "monster mill" 3 roller or the "Crankandstine 3D" as suggested buy vossy. Im going with the standard rollers to see how long they last, if they need replacing one of my closest friends is a turner, im sure a couple of bottles would get me some rollers!

Thanks so much for all the input everyone!

PS this mill has already half paid for itself. Crushed malt is not easy to come by in France unless we order vie internet and pay all that postage!

I put an advert on a local site to see if there was any interest before i paid out. That was this friday just gone. So far i have an order for 15kg to make at 3€/kg

The wife is of course over the moon, there are buckets of grain soaking all over the place  just wait till i start dry/baking it, that lovely sweet smell makes her a little ill.

Oh, I meant how much does it cost for shipping to France?

I'm curious because I find their shipping to Austria to be a bit expensive for small items. It starts at something like 15 Euros. BUT I just bought 50 kilos of grain and a few other items and only spent 30 Euros for shipping. So it works out to order from them if I'm buying something big.

If I'm buying a few small things, I order from Brouwland in Belgium. Their shipping starts out at 10 Euros.

Getting things shipped from the UK is the worst though. Most companies start their rates at 22.

I see, sorry. The shipping for the item was 15,77€, very cheep considering it was for shipping a 2 roller mill with hopper and base!

But still, 4 weeks was too long to wait for me. In that time i might have come to my senses and realised that spending that much money on was crazy!

Any how i have now just ordered my mill, here it is...
