Morning All,

Been on the hunt to find some genuine Banana Weissen online, but can't seem to find any.

I remember drinking this in Germany and loving it, but there's none I can see online!

Would anyone happen to know where I can buy some from online? A link would be much appreciated!

Thanks,

Sam.

Was it made with Bananas or just tastes of them?

You can get the taste through the yeast.

Wyeast 3068 is the yeast you want for this. Done a couple of weissbiers fermented at 24c and they were both banana bombs

With the level of taste and what my local German friends were telling me it was called, I'm 95% certain it was done with some kind of extract rather than just yeast, but I could be wrong.

Does anyone have any links to any such beers? I'd be keen to try anything, whether through yeast or extract/other substance.

Yeah, Wyeast 3068 and WLP300 are both descendants of the Weihenstephaner strain, and my WLP300 hefeweisen was a banana bomb despite being fermented at 18C. My suggestion would be to make a wheat beer as normal with one of these then, when it comes to bottling, you can draw off a sample and add banana extract/flavouring a drop at a time until you get the level you want, then scale up and mix in. The other alternative would be to boil and strain some bananas as if making a banana wine, but without the grape/raisin/tannin/tea/lemon/sugar, and add to primary. You might have problems with the starch and controlling the amount of flavour though so I'd go the extract route. Try and find a good extract though, many flavouring can taste artificial, especially when too much is added.

Thanks very much!

Are there any bottled commercial versions available anywhere online you're aware of? I fancy trying before brewing this one!

Thanks again.
