Shame about the crystal vs pale mistake but well done for having a go

If the beer turns out to taste as good as the wort I'll be using a fair bit of crystal malt in future, obviously with the principle ingredient of pale malt being 80% of the grain bill so I get some alchohol in there without havinng to add sugar :)

I've got most of what I need in order to set up my AG kit, large tubs, heating elements, possible cooling method, etc, I'm planning on taking a long weekend in October to build the kit up, if that comes off I'm away :D

Well, I bottled it off tonight, and am drinking the 'left overs', waste not want not after all :D

It's definitely the best beer I've made and drunk so far (I have high hopes for a modified Cooper's stout kit), so I'm hooked :) No tang on the tongue after a mouthful, the cascade hops are just about making themselves felt in each mouthful as well.

I've still not got my AG kit up and runnign yet, but have ordered the ingredients for a couple of extract kits from the homebrew company, a christmas ale, probably a porter style beer, and something more light and hoppy, probably going to do an IPA style with the other lot.

Amazing how cheap the sponsors are compared to my LHBS for DME, grain and hops, even including the fixed postage costs :D

I've obviously 'broken the rules' for the comp by using brewing sugar in my brew, but at least the experience has me sold on doing this more often, and at 5 or 6 gallon brew lengths, although by breaking the rules, it does mean I don't have to give one of my bottles of beer away, which is not badd thing going by the taste :D
