Will be getting 2x real ales on tomorrow when we get home from Halifax. Got a shed load of pellets in the freezer so may drop a few extra in when the time comes

Cheers. Tom

I'm bottling my IPA tomorrow, added hops 2 days ago and they smelt great, hoping for a nice pint with this one, we'll see.

Might be an idea to skip the dry hopping. Found that experimenting with the simply kit's, dry hopping made them taste over hopped, and bitter..

Agree with the "bitter" taste.

I have two B&M Ale Kits on the go at the moment and intend to use just half of the Hop Pellets provided for one Kit and 20g of Hallertau Leaf for the other one.

Again, the ale kits seem fine, the ipa is very bitter and overpowering.

Erm that's great in theory, but we are not dealing with ag here, we are dealing with processed extract. You really do get bittering from dry hopping kit's, i have done it, then compared with the same kit not dry hopped, and it's quite a lot more bitter. Tried various amounts of hop's, in pellet and leaf form, and it always add's bitterness. Even boiled kit's, and added hop's to the boil, as you would ag, not good, to my taste anyway.

I'll have to take you at your word as I've never done a side by side tasting.
I do find it odd though, it goes against everything I've ever experienced before.

I will say that I've noticed these "new style" dry hopped kits are more heavily bittered than other kits. My thought is that it masks the alleged malt extract twang. The dry hopped kits that I have done have all tasted more normal, if that's the right word to use? No sign of the homebrew taste that people have mentioned in the past.

Cheers. Tom

just drinking the tequila and lime kit if you like lime and lager this is the one for you the lime is a bit to prominent for me but still quit a refreshing beer though

everything goes in at the start no additions, mine turned out very lime forward might fade a bit as time goes on but still a nice refreshing beer though

I got myself another one at the weekend so plan on getting a Real Ale going tomorrow.

I don't think that leaving the hops out would really give you a result you are looking for. There shouldn't be any bittering since the hops are not boiled and are probably going in day 5 or 6 during the ferment.

I did enjoy my first go at American IPA and hopefully, errors I made in that batch may be sorted out in the Pale Ale. In the IPA kit, you have 1.25kg of Liquid Malt Extract, 500g of Dextrose, 20g of Hops (centennial & chinook) and a packet of yeast.

The Real Ale kits also have its own 0.90kg of LME, 500g of extract with 10g of hops (Columbus, Hallertau and Brewers Gold mix) and unfortunately, the yeast is missing but I have plenty so its OK for me.

All in all good value and the IPA is tasty so good to have in stock for when you don't have the time for a full brew day.

#updated the error on Real Ale kit from 1.25Kg to 0.9Kg.

Just drinking a real ale (x2) kit. Done exactly as it says on the box - except I left it for 15 days & dry hopped at 10 days. I'm well impressed.

Least time I was in my local B&M's I could not find the kita anywhere. They were what I would class as big shops. I could only see an equipment kit, no tin liquid kits. I thought that these kits were the liquid ones am I right in thinking that?
