Started a coopers wheat beer just now, mixed everything up, syphoned a sample to my trial jar, and my daughter broke my hydrometer. How long could i keep a sample before taking the SG. Is it that important, as once the reading is consistant then its ready, which leads on to, what is the strength of this particular kit (just in case the sample won't keep till I get a new hydrometer.
thanks in advance!

you wont tell the stregnth just by the kit a hydrometer reading is the only way. It may tell you the starting gravity on the kit instructions though. I would get a new hydrometer though just to be sure. Your sample in the trial jar will keep a while

I wouldn't worry about it. You could do with a hydrometer to confirm fermentation has finished but measuring the OG will only let you calculate the ABV. Not a big deal.
