After winning 6 free DJs and spotting Lowicz syrup for a quid a go in tesco I thought I'd give it a go!

4 litres Apple Juice
270ml Lowicz Blackcurrant Syrup
Teabag Tannin
1 tsp Yeast Nutrient
1 sachet Youngs Champagne Yeast

I've left 1 litre of AJ out as recommend...

So let's wait and see!

It should be good.. I use the full Lowicz bottle in a gallon, and my blackcurrant version was the best of them all :D

A didn't dare go for a full bottle when guys on here put 2-3 in for a 5g run!
How would the full bottle affect the cider? Would it be sweeter? stronger? More Blackcurranty?

Cheers!

With a full bottle of Lowicz the result is.. well, you don't plan on doing anything for the rest of the evening.. and the raspberry version developed the nickname "falling down water" because it kind of creeps up on you. It ferments out dry at a touch over 7% and is not at all sweet. I'll usually dilute it in the glass with some apple juice or lemonade to take the edge off the strength and add just a touch of sweetness that rounds out the flavour. They are very fruity, and because they're not sweet they're less cloying and a more adult drink than an alcopop.

The blackcurrant version is the best, closely followed by the raspberry and cherry flavours in joint second place. There are at least two more Lowicz flavours I haven't tried yet - strawberry and orange.

Yay for free DJs :thumb: I did a two gallon batch of cider and added the full bottle of blackcurrant syrup. It's young yet but very tasty, plenty of flavour. I think it's about 7% so that's plenty strong for me!

My toddler dropped a whole bottle of that Lowicz syrup on the kitchen floor last week, and three mops later you can still tell

Started something similar on the weekend but with 200ml of cherry and 200ml of blackcurrant (not sure what the brand was, got them from the Polish shop round the corner) dumped it all on some Old Rosie yeast that was left from a brew just finished and it's bubbling away nicely :D Do you leave it to mature or bottle it straight away?

Cheers
