How do people like their APA's served? I've got my keg at a cool room temp at the moment. It's all pale malt with loads of cascade and nelson sauvin fermented with us-05, think brewdog/stone/SNPA! i usually serve around this temp and it's good, but i'm thinking this may be too warm for an APA, should I serve cooler to tone down the malt flavour?

cheers

I like mine in the fridge till cold then take the bottles out of the fridge an hour before serving, if they are too cold you lose a lot of the aroma's I find.

I have just started experimenting with my wherry. I had one pint that was in the fridge for half an hour and had a great head all the way down the pint, it tasted awesome. The next day I tried a pint that had been in the fridge for 24hours and it was nice but the head didn't last and the flavour wasn't as full.

Today will try one at cold room temp (around 14C) and see how it tastes.

that's not a bad idea ali, my conservatory is ice cold this time of year but i could move the keg into the living room an hour prior to serving, good idea!

Leeds, yeah, ale is better at cool room temp for sure! You lose of flavour when it's cold. think lager and guinness extra cold :nono: i'm more after advice on this one as i've only brewed a clean, very hoppy american IPA once before, and I wanna get this one right!

This time of year I don't even put them in a fridge just a cold concrete floor then bring them in to warm up, even spring and autumn I can leave them on the floor then then drink them without going in the fridge, only in the summer or if they have got shaken up do i put them in the fridge. :thumb:

It was hypothetically speaking so that people who used a fridge could understand my process.

the air temp in my garage is hovering around 5C don't need any fridge at the moment concrete floor is just above freezing point.
I'm finding I have to warm my bottled beers up a little before drinking.... by bringing them into the house an hour before drinking. Cold destroys the flavours of the beer for me.

However I'd like my APA's served from a coolie filled with ice, while layed back on a comfy chair shorts and flip flops on while looking out across the warm blue ocean.... :nah:
