Am looking for a 1-gallon kit for red wine - can anyone recommend anything? Have had a look at the reviews section and got some good tips from there, but as is first time with a kit (though have brewed before) thought someone could point me in a good direction re: manufacturers etc.

I don't much like the "soft fruity" style wines. Am no wine-buff, though.
I've got DJ's, airlocks, campden tabs, etc. Whilst am not wanting to spend a fortune (will be first time have used a kit) would rather spend a little more and get something decent in the end.
Am not renowned for my patience, but will leave it for a while if I have to....

Not a clue about wine kits but you could always give the WOW's a go. Cheap and cheerful. Lots of people on here like them. It's found in the Wine how to section. :thumb:

Great minds think alike & all that! I've already got a couple WOW's underway, but wanted to try a kit in addition.

From experience, I'd avoid the young's kits. Very much like homebrew used to taste in the 70s and 80s.

I'm currently doing a 6-bottle Wilko Spicy Cabernet Savignon, which shows promise as it's a 6-bottle kit but that comes in a 1.8kg can rather than a 800g can, so should have a lot more grape juice concentrate in it.

It's a bit early to report back, but I'm going to be racking it tonight so will reply with initial thoughts...

I made up a 6 bottle Beaverdale Rioja earlier in the year which turned out well, California Connoisseur kits are of a similar quality. :thumb:
