Evening folks,

Thought I'd throw this out to the forum and see if anyone knows about this or has had a similar problem.

We have an Indesit integrated dishwasher. Recently I have noticed a little steam escaping from the top of the door where it sits under lip of the kitchen worktop. The edge of the wood panel is starting to get wet and long term this obviously wont do it any good.

I have checked the black rubber seal around edge of the door, its intact with no signs of perishing. Is it just a case of replacing the seal? Or could there be another issue?

Any advice appreciated,

DirtyC

As long as you get her s valentines card and remember important dates they don't usually break down

During drying, steam escapes through the vent at the upper left corner of the door. This is normal as the heat dries your dishes.

IMPORTANT: The vapor is hot. Do not touch the vent during drying.

Located on the top left side of the door, the active vent reduces the filling and washing sounds from your dishwasher. Once a wash cycle starts, the vent closes to lock in sound. After the cycle finishes and the dishes cool for several hours, the vent will open again to help control water vapor from collecting on the countertop. Between cycles, the vent stays open for airflow to reduce the buildup of odors.

NOTE: The opening and closing actions of the vent will make a slight noise. This is normal.

Found this too:

Our Maytag Dishwasher is venting from the top right side of the door underneath our counter top and destroying the counter. It used to vent out the dishwasher vent (and through the three holes located in the door). We had a repairman replace the recalled heating element and then my father-in-law adjusted the tub. Shortly after we noticed the venting problem. My Father-in-law replaced the seal on the door thinking this was the problem and that the steam was escaping through the seal and not forcing the dishwasher vent to open. It did not correct the problem and we aren't sure what to do next. Is there something controlling the dishwasher vent that we need to replace?
Answer

Are you sure, the technician or your father-in- law re mounted the dishwasher in the original position, could they have set the dishwasher farther into the cabinet ?

You will need to check the door assembly for possible warpage or loose liner mounting screws, and insure the door liner is straight across (side to side) and the unit is properly leveled.

Vent Operation

In the dry cycle(last 30 minutes of cycle)

The vent wax motor recieves voltage from the control board.
the wax module in the switch melts and expands, causing the plunger to move out and activate the flapper in the housing, allowing the heated air to vent out through the control panel.

You can remove the vent assembly and test the operation of the wax motor and flapper

Not sure if relevant, but all i coudl find at 02:38am!!

I know when I bought my first dishwasher it came with a plastic strip for sticking to the underside of the workbench to prevent the steam going into the wood. Now we have granite so it's not a problem!

You could paint the underside of the workbench lip with some kitchen and bathroom paint, that might stop the steam going into the wood?

Thanks for the suggestions guys.

I'll check the door for warpage. There doesn't appear to be an obvious vent as far as I can see and the counter does have plastic strip on the underside of the lip. However, it is the external wood on the door that is starting to get damp. Perhaps I can treat that with some kind of paint or strip.

If I find a solution I will post it here.

Cheers,

can you smear a thin coat of silocne onto the underside/bare worktop, as you do when fitting a sink into worktopa, stops vapors and water penetration

Had a similar problem recently with our integral machine. Regular opening and closing over time had slightly moved the position of the dish washer and the effect was that the door didnt close at the top by a fraction. I took the kicking board off and dragged the bottom of the dish washes out half an inch then tightened up the securing screws. Worked a treat. Hope this helps.
