I have two plumbers questions, the first up is the boiler in the house central heating has a valve which prevents the central heating hot water circulating around the up stairs rads when the heating is supposed to be off but for the best part of the day when the hot water is being used the rads warm up , upstairs,

does anyone know what the name for this valve is, i want to ask the land lord to mend it but its easier if he knows whats wrong

secondly, i am going to buy the brass and copper to make the cooler for the brew on monday, as i dont want bags of 25 i cant buy it from tool staion, and you can feck off if you think i am going to B&Q, so next choice is the big commercial firm next door, i think its bss, or bps, or somethink like that :wha: :wha: , i do know they are the big boys suppliers, so i was thinking of going there, the main problem is i need a single length of 15mm tube as well as the coil of 10mm and a handfull of copper fittings to.

does this sound ok or is there better to go to, i am in birmingham so i can travel to many other suppliers if anyone has any suggestions

BES? You won't do better for prices or range.

i do a bit of plumbing (kitten fitter) don;t know about boilers but i get my fittings from a place called 'Plumb centre' not bad prices , just say you are trade (worth a go) will be cheaper and make up a company you work for and your popping in etc you'll get a better price :thumb:

the plumb centre is just past the other massive plumbers place, i can always do the trade thing, as i am a site manager on multi milloin pound sites, (when i have a job!!!)

the thing is i dont do plumbing, i have absolutly no fittings or copper pipe at home, so i have to buy a whole length of copper 15mm and the fittings to make up the coolling coil set , as per the thread they lads posted here, i shall have an exact copy . i was thinking of poping down at say 11am after the usual monday morning madness rush and then just handing the guy a list of what i want and letting him get it sorted for me.

the only worry is what does a 3metre length of 15mm and a 25 metre coil of 10mm cost, i take it the rest is going to be pence per fitting,

copper is dear now :hmm: not sure on 15 pipe prob around £ 4 maybe more but 10mm coil in 25meter length maybe around £30 to £40, each fitting around £1 , you'll want leed free solder ,flux and wire wool (and a gas gun) and a pipe cutter.

Screwfix do 25m length if 10 mm copper for £58 just priced some up as I'm in need of another wort chiller just debating on the plate chiller route

well today i went to plumb centre and then bss to get the gear for my first wort chiller and i feel abused,

as if i had been locked in a cell with billy big boy elephant on his horny day, i was ripped wide open abused, i have never ever brought a plumbing fitting in my life and i now know why, i am now sat at home with the worlds largest ice cube seat trying to recover.

10mm tube, 10m long coil £20
15mm tube 3m long £7
end feed fittings average 40 pence each, but some were well over £3, walked in limped out £70 less well off , and a new shopping experience to hand, ouch

at the moment its working out the first AG beer is going to cost me £10 a pint, cheaper to buy beer at a night club!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
