Back by popular demand... my car breakdown thread!!! ;)

I got in the beast tonight after work, she turns over lovely but not a hint of firing, theres no smell of petrol whatsoever, and i cant hear the usual whirring noise when i turn the key, i've been told it could be a relay/fuel pump problem.

I have a spark, and the safety button hasnt been activated.

any help, once again greatfully recieved!!

Defo sounds Like fuel Problem. Have you tried checking the fuses, see if you have a blown one? I don't know wether the Pump is mounted in the tank on those or not? Try having a scraable around underneath and see if you can find a pump under there.

yes, injection.

it was fine when i got to working, wsh i didnt have to have a car!!

It seems that its definatly fuel not getting through, normally when i stall it or dont hold the key on for long enough it floods, a real stink of petrol, theres definatly no smell of petrol whatsoever.

I may have to nip next door to our work tomo to Autobreak, they did have a fire last weekend when a pile of 50 cars went up... i'm sure it wasnt the escorts if there were only 50 of them!!

Hi md, i did have a quick look at the fuses, although it wasnt really clear from the symbols which one was fuel pump. i'll check again tomorrow.

Hi darren, I havnt been onlime lately, I thought it had sorted itself out but a couple of days later I was on my way home from work and it cut out. After lots of investigation I found the plug that goes onto the fuel
pump had a dodgy terminal. Popped to the scrappy..chopped one off quick choc-block and loads of tape job..touch wood..... thanks for the reply though..really should think about a new car!!
