I wouldn't start a brewing journey by reading homebrew books, plenty of info available on ths forum or on YouTube. Best advise is to keep it simple to begin with (be it all grain or extract) and when you have a few good batches under your belt and have the basics nailed down you can branch out to take it to the next level. Have a look at some of the online homebrew retailers rather than Amazon, some have YouTube channels and in my experience any I've dealt with have been happy to give advice when you need it

Great advice, thank you!!

Whatever would be easier for beginners
Easiest option is extract, I started with liquid extract kits before moving to all grain. There's no question all grain is giving me better results but I'm glad I did the extracts first and I still do the odd one. You can get cheap ones and expensive ones, I'd avoid the cheap ones but you don't need to go high end either. Find one that appeals to you and give it a go.
