Hello everyone, how do I calculate the sugar in the apple
Juice so I know roughly what extra sugar I need to add to get my desired abv. In the apple juice I have their is 27.8 grams for every 250ml. Im making a 1 gal batch

Thanks

Adding sugar will only dilute the flavour of your cider as sugar is a flavour dilutent. TC can be insipid at the best of times especially if you are not adding any malic acid and a good dose of tanin.

A gallon is 4.5litres. Can you multiply by 18?
Although, if you use a mug of strong tea for the tannin, so you don't get so much AJ in, maybe just 16 or 17.
If you're not leaving it to mature with malolactic fermentation I strongly recommend using 1/2l of some other juice to round out the flavour. But they all have pretty much the same sugar content.
I also recommend not adding any sugar. It'll be 5.5% without. Quite enough
