yep, that would be fine :thumb: ; I know nothing about barrels or kegs, so I stand to be corrected, but if it has a screw top then you should unscrew it a few times during the secondary to release any gas that builds up

OK, that's what I'll do then.

Thanks again for the patience and perseverance ... it's my first brew and I want to do everything I ccan to make it successful so the advice is greatly appreciated.

If you do use your keg as your secondary, you won't want to use the tap to empty it because you will get the sediment as the bottom if you do.

Using your keg will mean that you will have to siphon into an FV, add your priming sugar and then either bottle from that or clean out and sanitise your keg and siphon BACK into the Keg.

Your best bet is to pick up a cheap second FV and use it for secondary and then simply go from secondary into the keg while adding your priming sugar to the keg. You can then either bottle from the keg (using a bottling stick makes this SUPER easy) or you can just leave it in the keg.

Hope this helps!

Thanks StubbsPKS,

I'll be getting a second FV tomorrow then moving the brew into it Sat/Sun.

Possible change of plan - some advice needed!

Plan to move my brew into secondary FV tomorrw - it's been in the primary for two weeks.

I was planning to prime and bottle it on Weds/Thurs ... but ... probably wont be able to until nex sunday, have to go away for work.

So, question is:

is it better to move into secondary today then prime & bottle tomorrow

or

leave it in the secodary for a week and bottle in seven days?

Cheers
