Sorry to have missed a few posts... for drilling large diameter holes in thin sheet you really can't beat these 'stepped cone' bits. Don't run them too fast though...

They can also be used to drill a * 22mm hole in 5 litre water bottle lids allowing a standard bung and airlock to be used, a cheap source of demijohns
