ok, this is not my mistake,i am writing on behalf of a good friend who has just embarked upon his first brew. its a muntons traditional bitter kit and having well mixed the wort and beer enhancer with about 3 litres of boiling water for about 5 to 10 minutes,he then,in his excitement added the yeast and stirred it in .he then phoned me to find out if this was a bad move.i reckon it is but is the yeast totally dead and can it simply be replavced with a fresh packet.? he has topped it up to the full amount of water and left it covered. can it it still be worked with? is the yeast dead?.......
again, any responses gratefully received.

im no expert but on the kits ive done so far it says to have the wort usually between 20-27 oC then pitch the yeast, sounds like he may have done some damage if hes put it into boiling water?

Good chance that the yeast is ...... fecked.

All is not lost, another packet can be pitched and all will be well :thumb:

brilliant, thanks for that. i had a quick taste of the sugared wherry; definitely alcoholic and with time could be a hearty winter warmer....
