Angram Beer engines

I have 'found' a pair of Angram beer engines with glass cylinders, they don't appear to have any suction. Anything obvious that I should be looking out for when I dismantle them? One of them has a slightly broken plastic part where the beer out line connect to the cylinder to go to the swan necc, looks like a fairly basic threaded part, again any clues here? If I can't resurrect them at least I have some nice ceramic handles........

Can't help with that I'm afraid, but Colin Farrar Brewery Services should be able to get hold of any spares you may need.

strip them down clean them up see if the valves are stuck open or the piston still seals.

Yep, check the seal on the plunger/rod, if it's perforated/ripped it needs replacing :thumb:

They're not the best at e-mails, better off phoning them IMO.

Flog them both and get a pair of real pumps - worthsides

Angrams are difficult to get a pipe on, ugly as sin and impossible to get drip trays for, burn them both and get some mans pumps!

I seem to recall seeing hi-gene hand pulls for about 175 quid new - can't find a price on their website though as they seem to have rebranded and it's now not got any prices.

I did some research not long ago just after I got my angram and found the average price for new engins was £170 up to £250 depending on supplier, As for second hand referbished they go for around £120 to £200.... These are not cheep toys to buy new from retailers... E-bay is definatley the winner for second hand sometimes new ones...

However, I have telephoned Farrars 3 times for a Washer/Seal for my Angram. They said they would sort me one out...I am still waiting... 3 Months later :hmm: So good luck :roll

I can vouch for that. I have just got a Hi-Gene beer engine from ebay for 15 quid plus postage :party:

I have just sold off a very similar BE to that (cooling jacket on the cylinder) as I have almost finished refurbing my double Angram CO engine, which in the end had no problems with the seals, just me not understanding that it won't suck when it's not upright!!

I will have to make a decision soon on whether to keep it and sell the Angram CQ or vice versa - not enough barspace for all three.

Trunky, this reply is way too late I know but the broken threaded part, I'm sure you'll now know will be a John guest 1/4"BSP to 5/16" swivel. I've just bought a beer engine offof ebay and found mine to be leaky and fractured. After much internet searching, the only place I can find to get them individually is
www.mouldshop.com for about £7 including delivery if you phone them. By the sound of it it will be delivered tomorrow.



Mine is a 'Homark North' variety but looking at the seal kits on Faram's website, all of the bits are look pretty much the same as Angrams.
