Just wondering Old Firkin, if you BIAB what's the advantage of also having a 3v system? I'm making lovely beers with BIAB and can't imagine needing to have more kit.
I had my 3V system before I had the Mrs make me a voile bag a couple of years ago. The only advantage to BIAB, IMO, is speed, but like all brewers, I like to tinkle with the kit, then there's the vanity side when my friends come round on a brew-day, it just looks the partl... I still get the same quality and quantity from my AG's from the BIAB method and would never discount it. I can brew a 24L batch, start to finish in about 4 hrs, a real time saver for me. I used to use my own spreadsheet to store brewing logs and recipes, but now I use Beersmith 2, at $27.95 for this great program, it really is a small price to pay...
I do have one great advantage though, a wife who loves beer and the smell of cooking hops... Now I'll drink to that... :drink:

welcome to the forum. whereabouts in glasgow are you from?
I was born in Partick but moved when I was in my teens to EK with my parents. Later I worked in Germany/Ukraine for a few years, returned home and bought a place in Strathhaven. But I'm a Glaswegian first and foremost...
In the past I tried to stay clear of forums/blogs and such, again due to work schedules and time constraints, but now I've got to a place where its time to sink into the chair with a cool beer and let the world speed along. My wife and I still work though, I'm only 52, but not as fervently.
Thanks for having me guys, I have read the rules and will try my best not to flame them... :
