If you are going to Rotterdam, this place is good, located in an old fire station, its a bit out of the centre but well worth a 20 min stroll. Brouwerij — Brouwerij Noordt

I have been to Amsterdam but didnt get a good vibe a bout it, seemed to be full of stag dos looking to get high and pay for services, in fairness I think we missed the good bits and we only spent half a day there before heading home from the airport, as I know others have had a more positive experience.

I really like the Dutch beer scene, its ploughing its own furrow, more relaxed than the Germans influenced heavily by the Belgians but do it well in their own right I think. I find Germany very clean / very strict. Belgium a lot less clean and no one really cares (unless it is about beer!) the Dutch strike a great balance generally in their demeanour and approach to society. Utrecht / Den Haag and Rotterdam have all been good when I have visited. I think Rotterdam got mostly flattened in the war so the architecture is very modern compared to the other two.

*** EDIT*** just seen this is an old thread you're probably home now, anyway I will leave this here for future reference for others.
