My Coopers Stout has been bubbling away like mad in the FV for three days and now it's stopped! It's like a dark satanic mill pond!!
My OG before yeast was 1.040 now it's 1.006. Just seems so quick!!??

That's generally how long my brews take. If you are going into a secondary then you could do it now, and leave it in there for a week to allow all the clearing up to be done.

"secondary"??? I'm pretty new to this!!! lol

Having a secondary fermenting vessel into which you can syphon or transfer your brew when its finished its initial ferment. Left for a further week or so it gives the beer chance to settle down and deposit most of the suspended dead yeasts etc giving a much clearer and cleaner beer when you come to bottle. It also allows the yeasts to tidy up the alcohol production and get rid of any by products it has made. Its to be recommended.
But if you haven't got a 2nd vessel don't worry just leave it in its original fermenting vessel for a period of 10 days or so before carefully bottling.

Thanks for the advice! Hydrometer reading seems to have settled so bottling next! :D :D

Secondary next, if you want to make the best of it :)

Just my tuppence but personally I don't bother with a secondary stage but I guess it depends just how polished you want your brew. With a stout you're not worried about the clarity. :thumb:

Well after much thought I went straight for bottling for a few reasons!! Firstly, I've never been bothered about sediment in my bottle!! I often drink Westons Old Rosie which has the sediment in the bottle!!! And one of my favourite drinks of all time was bottled Guinness as it used to be when it had sediment in the bottle!...... and of course I like things to be simple.... because i'm simple!!
