All in one brewing system buyers guide 2019

It is time for a buyers guide video series for all in one brewing systems that makes recommendations within the budget, middle and premium markets. This is set out in 3 separate videos that have all been made live at the same time.
The first of these explains my process in what to look for in a system and what to be wary of and also my budget market recommendations.
The second part covers the middle market and the third the premium market recommendations.
Much time and consideration has gone into this guide and I hope it proves useful to you.

Looks a nice bit of kit, I don't need one, having a lower tech approach to brewing but having watched a few of your videos your budget market recommendation looks very good, if I was just starting out, definitely what I'd go for.

I'm considering moving from BIAB to one of these type of systems, currently torn between the BrewDevil/Hopcat/whatever 50L and the BrewZilla 35L, so am interested in any info showing the pros & cons of each.

@David Heath. Lots of detail, Great effort! I just wondered if anyone has done a comparison on semi-pro kits? such as the Cammurri, Speidel, and Brewiks compared against basic BIAB or 3 pot?

Thanks for this @DavidHeath. The Brewzilla 35l looks like just what I’m after. 5 AG brews done using a 33l pot BIAB on a gas stove and I’m struggling to find the time to brew.
Is the 3.1 only available as a pre-order from Oz?

Daft question #2: I assumed these systems would work like BIAB in that the grain would simply be lifted up and drained before boiling. Should one embrace the sparge?

Yes, pretty much. This are designed so that you can sparge. I would recommend sparging for sure.

Yes, pretty much. This are designed so that you can sparge. I would recommend sparging for sure.

I was wondering the same thing myself, in my head it seems you would get better efficiency with a larger volume mash, maybe doing a small sparge at the end , with my current setup it's easier to do full volume mash ( easier to maintain temperature with larger volume, difficult to effectivly sparge bag) so thats what I do, but if I ever got one of these maybe switch to sparging.
If anyone has a good explanation of why sparging is better, I may reintroduce the dunk sparge with current system.

I have been doing full volume mash 30 litre kettle biab, my last brew was a tad large I couldn't get all the water and grain in at once, so left 7l out and did a dunk I added 1l on for losses to the grain bag
