I really think that this kind of pricing is going to close a lot of pubs, the difference between what you can buy in the shops and the pub is getting ever wider. Especially for people out there who drink the ordinary beers, even if you appreciate a nice beer you can pick up some very nice ales in the likes of Lidl or Aldi for £1.25 a bottle. Let alone what we're paying for something that blows them all out of the water. My Friday night session at home costs me £1.60 and I'm hammered, If I go to the pub that might just get me a half of, dare I type it......Fosters. Off to wash my hands now.

Can't say I agree with this, I've got a choice of local pubs near me and the one I favour (unsurprisingly) is an ale house and it's usually one of the busiest ones. I know if I get anything from Keg it's going to cost me £5+ but I know I'm getting to try something with a bit of quality and the staff are always friendly and informative. I could walk down the road about five mintes and go to a spoons pub and pay £3 or whatever for a devils backbone or whatever it's called but it's more about the experience and the environment. I like to think that the social drinking scene is changing a little and people are starting to go for quality over quantity.

That said I do live in "Greater London" so paying through the nose for stuff is a given, if anything is going to kill the pubs round this way it's the bloody landlords driving the rent up lowering cash flow for beer money.

Should add that the pub brews their own beer and that's a cracking £3.60 a pint from cask and bloody tasty too.
