I have been given 2 Ali Barrels from a brewery that closed 10 gls I think ? They come with wood taps and both hard and soft spills before I us them is there any thing I should know ,as to make and then to loose the beer is not worth thinking of any information you can give will be of great help as I have only been brewing for a very short time

9 gallon firkins maybe?
You will need to get new keystones and shives as they will need to be replaced each time.
You can re-use the tap as long as it is undamaged and you can clean/sanitise it.
Jet wash the casks as thoroughly as you can.
Sanitise them.
Fit new keystone.

Fill with beer, fit new shive and leave to condition.

Set up untapped firkin on stillage 24 hours.
Tap and leave for further 24 hours.
Serve.

Do you know about tapping casks?

Many thanks for information , I have tapped barrels in the past but not for some time I will go to my local brewery for bits of kit. : :

Thanks for info but if it was good for the last 20years it will do for me to try
