Bit of an observation really more than anything .............. I made my first 'return to brewing' brew a few weeks ago and got a second kit a week or two ago while I'm collecting the gear together to go to 'the dark side' just waiting for a generous mate to come up with the boiler then I'm away :!:
first brew was very acceptable and quite gluggable, Brewers Choice IPA @ 4.9% just brewed their best bitter this morning while I'm setting up as mentioned above
it occurred to me that when I used to brew many many years ago, we used to brew some pretty potent stuff, but nowadays I'm all growed up, (yeah right, I'd make a bloody good 8 year old my mrs says :!: )
no longer interested in a strong (alcoholic) brew, happier with taste, love the dry bitter hoppy flavours and since I brewed my first batch .............. honest I know you might not believe this  ............ I'm drinking less
we used to open a bottle of wine on a Friday night, then another :hmm: followed by a rum and coke or three same on a Saturday and Sunday nights as well, plus might have had a couple of bottles of beer or cider @ lunchtime Saturday/Sunday especially if watching sport on TV etc :!:
now I'll frequently have a bottle of home brew in the evening during the week and a couple or three bottles Friday/Saturday/Sunday evening and that's it :!: the overall consumption of alcohol (units ) has gone down 'cos I'm only drinking my own brew, so's the wife, she loves it :!: often after drinking wine etc 'cos it was followed with spirits used to feel a bit sluggish in a morning (not quite a hangover but you'll all know what I mean ) but not since I've gone on to my own ale :thumb:
so home brewings good for you  I'm drinking less feeling better in a morning and not forking out a bloody fortune at the supermarket for booze :nono:
