I used to play paintball a lot a few years back, twice a week. Was in great shape, had a sharp eye and a tactical mind.

So yesterday I went to an airsoft venue with friends. (Us paintballers used to mock it)

It has its advantages, as well as its disadvantages.

I went to gaol events, which is played inside and outside of an old youth offenders prison.

Was a lot of fun, especially the storming of buildings, corridors and rooms. With plenty of flash bangs included, that in a confined space gave some real simulated CQB experience.

Anyone else tried it? Or visited this site?

Looked into it after Wed been paintballing a dozen or do times. Everyone who was into it looked like this

Ha ha

Yes everyone else there did look, and sort of act like they were military. But I take great pleasure in shooting the shi*e out of them.

I went in my paintball gear and was instantly taunted.

Soon changed when I was the first to run out of cover taking 6 people out in one go before I was shot ;-) in the paintball world they call in mugging.

The guy running the place stopped me at one point and said, alright mate, ex paintballer by any chance?

I was using a site gun (an-47) not one that costs an arm and a leg (like my paintball marker)

Was still good fun, and deeply satisfying shooting guys and gals dressed in current army digicam with all the tac vests and gear.

Pro for show, we used to call em ;-)

Or,

All the gear, but to much fear ;-)

I was interested, but the people I spoke to who did it acted like they were the military. Way too serious. Put me right off.

I was once the founder of a paintball team called team crayola.

Because we'd colour you in. A bit of a pis* take against the real semi pro guys.

Myself and 3 mates hold a site record at one paintball field.

32 'enemy' shot in 1 min 37 sec.

Not been PBing in ages... fancy it again now. I wonder where I can go round here.... I might check it out.

Only one very north I've been to was one near an open quarry somewhere near blythe.

It had a double deck bus on site. Something me and an old team mate who came with me managed to get on. Still filled with 'enemy'

I'm making myself seem pro here. The key is just not to be affraid and run at the opposition as soon as you sneak up close enough. They go into panic mode, and your at the advantage. ;-)

I've only been paintballing once. For my stag do. I was sent to the double decker bus, and had to defend myself against everyone else that was playing. While in a pink tutu. Didn't go well.

Only done airsoft and didn't think it was that good. In open areas or any sort of wind I found the balls were going everywhere, plus you can never tell if your hit or at least that was what everyone was saying. At least with paint they can't hide it.

I have had a look at this and from what I can see its paintball without the mess and expense, the honour (I've been hit) system will obviously be abused by some but in the video they knew they had been hit from any distance.

Both games are about honesty. But when your shooting at someone wearing full camo and tac vest, you don't feel the hits. I had the same as my paintball trousers are designed to be baggy as to slow the ball before it hits you. Leaving less of a mark.

I've had great bleeding headshots like that to. :-( never fun. :-(

It was cheaper per say, as the equipment was less complex and balls are pennies compared to paintballs.

I also noticed the balls wondering, but that happens in paintball to. The secret as I said is to get nice and close!

In my paintball hayday I had an apex barrel attatchment that allows you to put spin on the balls. Therefore you can shoot to an extenet around corners or over objects.

If anyone is on the fence, just give it a try. ;-)

Oh and please, bit of shamless plugging for my mates YouTube channel, click on the link to give him some views pretty please ;-)

I loved paintball before the accident, but it's a bitch when you get shot in the knuckles.
We played a lot without the body protection and gloves but it made it more interesting cause you really didn't want to get hit but really made a massive effort to hit your opponents.

We had this when I was a kid, some people just don't take their shots.

Ha ha I don't wear gloves, and actively aim for other people's knuckles and ears

I came home with a few to the fingers and knuckles actually :-( worst one was to the chin :-(

I was a member of a team from the Wirral for a few years. Good fun but quickly got expensive buying crates of balls. I even got my tetanus shots up to date by the doc at work because I ran into trees a lot.
Not tried airsoft but the PB guns now are a world away from an autococker or prrrro-am. We were forever tricking them up with something new. Quite a buzz.
