on the pics ive seen on this forum the liquid in the air locks sometimes looks like the brew its self is this right?

ive always used water, if it is part of the brew what are the advantages?

many thanks EH

It's probably where the fermenting wine has reached the top of the demi' and pushed it's way into the air-lock.

Ideally it should be water or better still a glug of cheap vodka!

Ideally it should be water with a bit of a campden tablet crushed into it, or airlocks tend to grow algae over a period of a few weeks.

Or, a glug of cheap vodka :thumb:

i'll try that, the vodka or campden tablet

ive had problems with algae makeing its way into the wine (lost a full 5 gal carboy of elderberry to that this year )

many thanks EH
