Hi folks, decided to brew today after the football being postponed. I found a recipe online for an attempt at Brewdog's DPC. the galaxy hops I used were pellets and it clogged up the boiler at the end when pouring into the fermenter, ended up having to pour through a sieve.the hydrometer shot was a bit cloudy due to the trub at the bottom getting mixed in.
1 hr mash and boil
Marris Otter 3.5kg
Caramalt 400g
Crystal 100g

Citra 20g @ 15
Simcoe 10g @ 15
Galaxy 20g @ 5

Citra 50g @ 0
Simcoe 35g @ 0
Galaxy 25g @ 0

dry hop the same as above after fermentation.

this is gurgling like crazy now, what an amazing smell coming from it aswell. i took the wee red cap off the airlock and the smell of hops is tremendous and alot like the aroma of dpc. going to transfer into secondary after a week and dry hop it as there is a fair amount of trub on the bottom already, due to pouring the full boiler through the sieve! just won a counter flow chiller on ebay, will need to brew soon to test it out.

Keep us updated abey! Would love to know how this one turns out. I Noticed you didn't do a 60 min addition?

aye the recipe online didn't have one, I thought it was a bit strange aswell but I've seen it in other recipe's. will be transferring to secondary probably on tuesday and dry hopping, then bottling next Sunday maybe.

Cool! I really like the citrus punch with this beer and the low abv makes it perfect for the daytime. I'm going to try this as my second biab.

Giving this a go on Friday. Using Notty. I have plenty of simcoe and citra but Couldn't get any galaxy, I have some cascade and centennial. Either a good substitution?

brewdog lists the hops as simcoe citra and HBC, which I think is like 'Mosaic'. I would batter in with Cascade , even if its not like it, it will still be a very tasty brew. let us know how it goes.

Cool thanks abey. Tell me this, did you use beer Smith or another brewing software? Would you be able to upload the beer Smith file?

I'll be doing a biab and scaling down

no it was with brewmate.

Sounds awesome. Bet it smells great! Looking forward to giving this a go this weekend. I've decided only to use citra and simcoe

Hi abey. How did this turn out?

hi mate, only bottled/kegged it on Sunday there, I think I filled 12 bottles and stuck the rest in the cornie. I've not tried it yet though I was contemplating having a wee cheeky try tonight actually, it should be nice and carbed up now in the cornie.

Let me know how it goes mate. Trying a reduced scale batch on Monday!

i had a wee nip of it last night, it smells really good but at this early stage doesn't seem to have the same balance as the DPC, (I didnt expect it to taste like it anyways, the recipe I found online was just someones random take on it), I feel it needs a bit more sweetness and bitterness,, possibly some extra crystal, and a **** load more hops! , to be honest though its only been kegged 5 days, and its warm so I'm sure it will improve once chilled.

Sounds lovely! Might up the crystal ratio then. Do you think an early hop addition would be useful also? I have some leftover centennial that would fit the bill
