Brilliant! So brilliant in fact, I'm thinking about doing a 1 gallon batch of this to try.

Would safale us-04 be a bad match for this? Got loads of those stored

Anything in the recipe you would advice me to change?

Wee update on this. It ended at 1011 which is pretty impressive attenuation from the San Diego Super Yeast.

Transferred 25 litres of it to a glass carboy and will probably bottle this next weekend. The other fermenter full of it will probably be kegged unless I can get some more bottles in.

I have a pretty much limitless supply of brown glass 500ml ale bottles due to my line of work and often throw bottles out after a few uses. Let me know, and I can collect a few dozen for you and drop them off next time I'm coming through the Lang Toun on my way to Glasgow or Edinburgh

Legend. Well up for that if you don't mind.

Will pay you in beer - either homebrew or whatever else you want.....I work for Heineken.

Cool will collect as many as I can between now and next time I'm coming through. I'm originally from Glasgow so pass by every few weeks usually. Will keep you posted :thumb:

Couldn't resist it, bought the stuff, going to do the same as you this bank holiday!

I've yet to make a nice stout (two duffers), so I'm hoping this one goes well!

Yep, I'm planning on trying to make this one in a fortnight's time too. I'll have to substitute the Pale Crystal with something else, but other than that I'm looking forward to giving it a go (it'll be Whitelabs WLP004 in my case).

Nice one - had a wee sip when I was filling secondary and it's amazing. Obviously the coffee stands out as it's so young but when it mellows out it'll be a proper nice beer.

Quite a bit of coffee/choclate bitterness at the moment but it's only 2 weeks old. In a month or two I reckon it'll develop nicely and continue to get better and better.

Really happy with this one so far. Let me know how you guys get on......pictures too!

Can I get away wiyh Nottingham Yeast? I might try and reclaim some from an IPA. Got no packet yeast.

Like Nottingham because it's my local yeast lol

Use whatever you want. The recipe called for Belgian, but I used San Diego yeast........so just do your own thing.

Sound, maybe we can swap a bottle to see how different yeast affects the recipe. I just wasn't sure if Nottingham was suitable to stout, but sod it.

Exact a mundo. Well up for that.

Bottling and legging this bad boy this weekend so keep in touch and we can swap no bother. You going to The Spring Thing?

Is this from Brooklyn BrewShop's Beer Making Book? If so, I've tried a couple of the recipes in there, including the Smoked Cherry Ale (conditioning) and the Belgian Trippel (delicious!). Fancy having a go at this one, so looking forward to hearing how it turns out!
