Hi Peeps,

Yes, i'm brewing again tonight, trying to get the supplies ready for the festive period. Tonights brew is one devised by myself n Ed, we thought it about time to try and experiment and make some of our own recipes, so fingers crossed hopefully it will turn out as nice as it sounds.......

GingerRillo

Grain Bill
4.2kg of Maris Otter Pale Malt
200g of Crystal Malt ( adding this to hopefully give a nice copper colour)

Hop Bill( ibu 33)
Amarillo Hops -
31g@90mins
5g @10mins
10g@post boil

Irish Moss 3g@10mins

300g of Fresh Root Ginger@30mins

as i have mentioned this is a recipe that we have devised and hopefully the first of many, any feedback on recipe very welcome

Cheers

JB

After tasting Williams Brothers GINGER BEER. I Brewed an AG Ginger Beer S.G.R I added ginger to the mash and the full 90 min boil and it had little to no ginger taste. I think the taste may have been boiled out. I ended up adding Ginger Compound to the batch prime when I bottled to get a Ginger tang. I will try again but will only add the Ginger for last 15 of boil and will steep Ginger during fermentation. Good luck and I hope yours works better than my first atempt. :thumb:

mine with 425g ginger for 30mins boil was very gingery. The drink was quite harsh because the ginger and bittering hops layered together. 300g ginger may give a better result. :thumb: let us know.

hi

just a quickie, before i forget, took an og reading and i nearly fell over, turned out at og1060, gonna be a strong one, not sure how this happened, didn't use lots of grain, maybe the ginger has sugar in it? or maybe i mashed to long, 90mins? anyway this is getting bottled and shared between me and Ed, smell very nice so here's hoping

Hello

just bottled tonight, final og was 1010, so an abv of 6.6%, had a sneaky taste, you get the bitterness of the hops and the amount of ginger used was just right, right time to get the videos finished
