Did this a week-and-half ago now, but if anyone's interested, here's what it was like:
Okay, AG#2 is Haka! The Herald, a Xmas Pacific IPA. As the name suggests, it has a fair amount of NZ hop in it.
Recipe as follows:
87% Maris Otter
7% Caramalt
1% Amber
3.5% Munich
1.5% Wheat malt
70g table sugar in the boiler
Motueka & US Cascade - Bittering hops
Nelson Sauvin & Motueka- Flavour
Nelson Sauvin & US Cascade - Aroma
27g Motueka @ 60
11g US Cascade @ 45
10g Motueka @ 29
2g Nelson Sauvin per minute @ 28->21
12g Motueka @ 25
12g Motueka @ 20
1g Nelson Sauvin per minute @ 20->11
10g US Cascade @ 10
15g US Cascade @ 5
15g US Cascade @ 1
8g Nelson Sauvin @ 0
US-05 to ferment
Bloody weird brew this, as I was aiming for 20L into the fermenter, which was supposed to come out at about 53IBU and 6.3%. Somehow, I only ended up with 12L at the end :shock: I forgot to factor loss to hops and trub, but even so, that is a strange outcome!
I also cocked up the grain bill slightly, as I accidentally added crystal malt instead of caramalt, so much darker and will be sweeter.
Now, of course, the IBU is going to be closer to 63 and the expected ABV is 7.4 - 7.7% depending on the final gravity. One to savour, I think! Should be nice! I don't know how I would recreate it now though!
