Mick I use US-05 loads - just don`t be tempted to bottle or keg untill that yeast head has dropped - I also find it ferments quite low 1006 or lower so just let it go then you`ll have a great clear beer

Nice pics snail .. looks like a great brew - love that colour too!

Thanks Aleman, RTB. My mind is at rest. Been away for a party just got back and it is still floating. If I were to prod a scewer through it would that release the CO2 and alow it to sink or should I just let it go in it's own time??. It's going in a corni when my gas arrives. It's a beautiful colour Tony and smells realy malty hope it tastes half as good as it looks and smells

I`d just let it go Mick - i`ve skimmed one before and bottled and it never cleared, TS told me to just leave it alone and that advice has never failed - how long has it been in the FV? - sorry i should check the posts above
It`ll look like that brown skin will never fall but it will - i give it a day after that then bottle, in colder months its taken 12 days before and my last brew ( summer daze which i`m suppin a crystal clear pint of at the mo  ) dropped a lot quicker :thumb:

it`ll be worth the wait :drink: :drink: :drink:

Rick it has been in the FV for 14 days now :hmm: . This one is going to go in one of my new Cornie's  . The brew looks clear around the edges of the crust already :thumb: . Im just worried about letting something nasty in by opening the lid every day to see if the head has droped. :hmm:

That`s quite a long time especially in the warm weather, i`d of thought it would be fermented - i`m not sure what to suggest, maybe take a hydrometer reading and then decide whether to skim the top if the reading is low :hmm:

I`ve not had to wait that long even in colder months for the head to drop and like you say the more you fiddle around with it the more chance of a possible problem, one good thing though a cloudy beer can taste just as good as a clear one :D

Hope it works out OK :drink:

Thanks Rick.
Ive decided to skim the top and get it in a Corni tonight.

EDIT:- Change of plan. Going to syphan it off from under the head so as not to disturd the crust on top and hope that works.

Ive syphoned this off from under the crust. Got about 12lts into the corni. Did a gravity reading and it was 1.010 which was the expected FG. Ive gased it to 35psi left it for a couple of min's released some pressure via the PRV to drive any air out. Gased back up to 35psi and gave it a shake. Does that sound about right??. How long do most people leave it before drinking.

 hope it turns out good - did you find the corni set up easy to use? I really want to go down the corni route but i`m scared of the BREEDING  I can`t imagine what she`d say with 15 cornies in the spare room (brewery store)

Fingers are crossed Rick. What went in the Corni looked nice and clear. So far Useing a corni has been easy. Filling and gasing were realy simple. Dispencing could be a different matter getting the gass pressure correct for the pour will be a bit hit and miss for a while. Let you know when I get my tap connected up and pull a pint off.
