Hi

Can anyone help me working the quantity of frozen raspberries I am supposed to add to my wit beer?

I will keep about 20 litres of it as Wit (for myself) and then secondary the remaining 5 litres to add the raspberries for my beloved!

Appreciate any help an tips as this is my first Wit.

In addition, as I added corriander to the original brew, would it still work with the raspberries or will I end up with 5 litres of undrinkable beer?

i made a wheat beer kit from brew ferm and wanted to add raspberries to it so got some fresh ones and boiled them up to get the juice from them past it throw a sieve and chucked the pulp.i added boiled 300g of fresh its not finished yet but tried some on the way to conditioning it and you can taste them ok but not much redness but that's cool.i put a post in brew days if you want a look :thumb: (brewferm wheat beer with raspberry)

I brewed a 15 litre wheatish beer and whizzed up 1 kilo of frozen raspberries that I added to secondary about 6 days in, once SG was 1.015. Left it for 5 days then bottled. Incredible raspberry aroma and a beautiful colour, absolutely delighted with it. I would recommend about 350g per 5 litres.

Cheers for the replies, I can get frozen raspberries from tesco. I will heat them up and add to secondary and see how it goes. Any idea how long it took to get to 1015, I've heard fermentation using a wit yeast can take up to three weeks!

I didn't bother heating/boiling mine as I didn't want to "strip" any flavour and relied on the alcohol to prevent infection. I wanted mine to be an easy drinker so started with a lowish SG around 1.045 and it dropped to 1.015 in 4 days using a micro brewery ale yeast. In fact the whole brew was 11 days from start to bottle.

Try just blitzing them in a processor next time and add them as is for a really intensive hit of raspberries.
