Just the other day I had a glorious glass of Titanic's Plum Porter and I wondered if if could repliquate it in any small way homebrewing. I can get a porter beerkit but in what way and in what quantity could I add plums to it? Any advice wouold be gratefully received. Thanks.

Hi I do an all grain elderberry stout and i add 1lb of fruit per gallon. I pulp the fruit first strain off the juice and then boil it. this is added at the start of the fermentation. However there is a school of thought which says to add the fruit after fermentation so that you can judge how the beer is before you add fruit and how much to add. Also if you add it after fermentation it will taste more of fruit than fermented fruit (think wine and grape juice ). I personally wanted the fruit in mine to be fermented so that it is more like a port (which goes great with a stout). It works well in my beer.

Thanks for the reply. I'm strictly beer kits only at the moment so I reckon I could either add some form of plums to the first fermentation or add some plum concentrate (?) to the bottles.
Just had a bottle of Woodforde's Admiral's Reserve- gorgeous.

I add boiled up raspberries and use the juice as a sugar substitute when priming in my wheat beers tastes great ive also used a mixture of wild berries in the same way in real ales
