1st time using a cornie and making lager, I kegged it about 1st Jan.

I was checking it weekly and as there was little gas coming out when checking the PRV so I topped it up to 40 lbs every time, now I have slightly carbed lager but lots of stuff in suspension. I've poured about 8 pints now and it's the same even after adding gelatine 48 hours ago, have I ruined my lager?

PS Still drank 6 of the turbid pints :)

you must have a gas leak somewhere, if you have been topping it up to 40 psi you wont have slightly carbonated beer it will be well over carbed, and if you had tested the prv there would be a good swoosh coming out for a good 5-10 seconds with that amount of gas in the cornie. I usualy carbonate to 20psi.
is your keg at room temp or in a fridge? and did you move it before pouring?

It's in the garage, the glass I poured 30mins ago is still slightly carbed have not moved the keg for 48 hours.

Hold cold is it in your garage? - your cornie will settle quicker if it is cold.

While CO2 is absorbed into the liquid, it seems odd that you keep repressurising it - as abey says, at 40 psi, after a while, it will absorb a lot and be too fizzy to dispense.

Do you use a gas management board? - could the leak be back there?

Yes it does, it's my first time using a cornie so school boy error. I'm just getting foam with any more that the gas regulators min pressure but can get a pint poured with the min pressure and my party tap just under full open.

Was thinking that if I kept releasing the PRV every day if would de-carb the beer and allow it to clear?
