Get and got have their place but gotten's place is in the USA, not in British English!I also scored full marks. I now feel like a pedantic old g*t for doing so. I was also told to expect a ruler across the knuckles if I ever used the words got, get or gotten when I was at school. Unless I was saying 'do not ever use the words got, get or gotten'. Sorry Clint only joking
So why is it in the Collins English Dictionary 1972 edition. Admittedly as archaic English? Still used in colloquial speech. Well I do anyway.Get and got have their place but gotten's place is in the USA, not in British English!
I don't know, I've gotten too old to remember.Perhaps it was a reprint of Ye Olde Dickshonery of 1445.
