I used a half Kg of dark Spray Malt yesterday in a kit brew for Coopers Dark Ale, my question is how to stop it clumping when added to the liquid brew.
I added mine directly onto the mixture of hot water and malt extract where it immediately went into numerous lumps and I had to spend 10 mins squashing these out with the spoon. Should it be added to a cooler mix ?

spray malt benefits from being boiled anyway, it goes through the "hot break" which causes a lot of foaming and results in clearerer beer eventually. so boil it in a few litres of water :) you can also add your kit to this if you've got a decent sized pan, that way everything's nice and mixed and you can just mix it with cool water and you're good to go!

much obliged for the reply. Would it be ok to mix spray malt and the beer enhancer with a litre or two of boiling water, mix, and then add that to the FV along with the kit ?
