my wifes parents live a bit further along that road

picked up the Gueuze lambic beer, though i see what this sour business is all about

wasnt any of the other left as apparantly you had cleaned him out on you way to spring thing a few hours before i got there:drink:

tried it today, couldnt manage more than a few sips

Sour is definatly not for me, not sure how anybody could like this

The wifes kept the bottle and put a label on it 'the beer steve couldnt drink'

It is an acquired taste, Steve, but it wouldn't do if we all liked the same thing. I absolutely adore the stuff, and when we get through the summer and back into the cool weather, I'm thinking about getting some brettanomyces bruxellensis from Wyeast and having a crack myself.

Lancssteve and UP tried to educate me with Belgian beers at the weekend. I'm sorry guys. Socks are made to go on feet, Cheese is for eating and raspberry vinegar is just a no no so when you try to combine the three into a beer im not having it :D

The Mort Subite Gueze is a very very nice beer too, a lovely sour beer very well balanced, and very moreish.

The orval i don't need to review dry brett beer, very easy drinking.

no horseblanket, leather or mustyness for me in any of the brett beers, just pure enjoyment.

I HATED the Geuze - way way too sweet, one of the only beers I actually poured away while in Belgium. Want to try their OUDE geuze which is unsweetened though.

Sadly I drank all the 2-year old bottles of Orval in the Sun in Lancaster and now have to wait for the four 6-month-old ones to mature, while the 2-month-old ones need a LOT longer, thankfully there's a whole crate of the latter :-D

Thanks for the amazing tastings of geuze at spring thing - that plum one (was it prune?) was incredible... Floating labels off of bottles now and soaking with water from bottle sterilizer to de-funk them...

Will buy you a Rodenbach Grand Cru at October NCBA event by way of thanks
