A name for weak wine?

Actually there is a Canadian 'wine' kit range called 'Cornucopia'. I bought one on special offer called 'raspberry merlot'. The final abv was intentionally about 7.5% and very sweet.
Sangria of course has been around for decades and is the same concept and spritzer is simply white wine and soda.

Funny how we slag off wine for being 8.5% but a beer like that we would call imperial :wha:

Fruit spritzer is now being sold at Azda, so I guess the matter has now been resolved, and very quickly too!

I remember 'Barley Wine': 'Strong as a double scotch and less than half the price!'.

I always found that ad phrase amusing, given that a pint of normal bitter has the same alcohol as a double scotch too!

How about Wi (half Wine). Sort of describes it as well.

I asked a guy from Nintendo how the came up with the name Wii for their new game console, when to my mind it suggested both **** and small, recalling how the car Nova meant 'it doesn't go' in Spanish. He said the positive connotation in English was 'we', reinforced by those adverts of idiotic scenes of family groups lined up before a TV waving their arms about, playing mixed doubles tennis.
If you take the 'i' and 'n' out of wine, you get 'we'. But it still sounds like urine. 'You can fool some of the the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time but ...'
