It is quite chilling. I looked up my postcode and its amazing how you remember when all the road accidents happened. :(

Certainly is BY :(
Glad I lived through both :? of my motorcycling lives. :)

Very interesting Mike i remember now the young lad school boy 13 getting killed on a road near us. They have pedestrian crossings there now

Very interesting, thanks BigYin.

I'm actually rather surprised, only 4 incidents (7 fatalities) on my route to work, there are a couple of a nasty junctions where there are regular accidents, but no deaths recorded at those sites.

There was also a suicide, bloke stepped out into the path of a truck, which isn't recorded.

Kin-hell  was she driving the car??

BB

Yep, Dark morning, unlit back road, 2 black horses in road just around bend.

You just don't expect that around corners, very sad to hear that.
Daughters just passed her test, we worry whenever she's out in't car. :(

I sent the link to a friend who has two kids at high school up in Aberdeen. She immediately got the girls to look at it, and said while it was maybe a bit scary, it was fabulous for impressing on them not just how dangerous the roads were, but just how many pedestrians were killed in the city - a real wake up call!!!

Good post BY, yes the pedestrians show up unfortunately as do motor cyclists. :) But its not the roads that are dangerous its the drivers and to some extent the cars. When I was a lad 60mph was knocking on a bit and you felt it, now every shopping trolley is up to 70, 80, 90, anywhere, with the stereo blaring :)
Trust to the teaching BB, I know what you mean though, when my daughter passed her test I bought her a sat nav. cos she didn't know where the end of the road was and wouldn't have found here way home without one :hmm: :? and I didn't want her looking at direction signs instead of driving, anyway to the point she immediately started going nationwide with it, not exactly my intention :? Still can't read a map, "no need to" :(

The problem with this country is thar our justice system is out of date. Two men who were in stolen cars, drunk, banned from driving and racing each other and killed two girls near Grimsby a few years ago. They recieved a couple of years in jail for this. Ian Huntley killed two girls and was put behind bars for life at around the same time. I can't see the difference? Today in the local paper in Lincoln a man was fined £120 and given 9 points for hitting a motorcycle head on when he did not see him. They guy on the bike lost his leg and may lose his job as he was a RAF techy. People will never drive carfeully until there is a realisation of what they are doing can kill and harm others.

I'm with you there - death by dangerous driving?? it should be manslaughter and min 15 years

least punishable way to murder someone is to run them down with a car. Doesn't even get classed as assault with a deadly weapon. If you are unlucky you get charged with Causing Death by Dangerous Driving . . . otherwise it's a much less serious charge

Two mates of mine were killed and one seriously hurt by a 'drunk' driver . . . guy got 18 months . . out in 12 for 'good' behaviour. One reason you don't want to meet up with your school mates for

I mentioned a friend was killed by a drunk driver. The drunk, a man in his 50's with a history of drink driving got 2 years. Tony's mum was totally devastated by the sentence. He even had the audacity to appeal and for once there was a faint whiff of justice, he received an extra year.
