Started the wine kit the other night and I am using plastic demijohns.
When you boil the kettle to dissolve the sugar, let the water cool a fair bit because when you pour it into a plastic demijohn it shrinks and goes out of shape.
:oops:
 
It's a very good point. Worse-case the plastic could split leaving you with a boiling sugar syrup on yer hands :shock: That would smart a little.
 
I poured some boiling blancmange into a plastic jellymould once- pink slime all over the worktop!
